What size wreath would suit you best? How do you keep it looking tip-top well in to the New Year? Hopefully this page will answer a few of these questions for you.
My wreaths are all made on a wreath ring, covered in moss which does help to give the foliage some moisture once made. To get the best out of your wreath, it should be kept out of direct rain (so under a canopy/porch is fine), but misted left to soak in a shallow tray of water each week. This will keep the decorations in tip-top condition, whilst still keeping the foliage hydrated. This will keep your wreath alive from the end of November, right up until the end of January in most instances. Realistically however, it's inevitable you'll forget to do this, which means that you should expect your wreath to last until the New Year at least (which is fine for most people!).
My foliage is all locally grown, decorations are as natural as they can be (local cones and berries/crabs) and a moss back rather than a floral-foam wreath-ring (I don't use Oasis/floral-foam in any of my arrangements). Citrus/cinnamon will have been imported from abroad, but will compost down so you are not left with any single-use plastic waste. After use, the wreath can be fully dismantled and composted so all you'll be left with is your ribbon (which can be re-used), the wire that is used to bind the foliage to the wreath ring, the wreath ring itself, and any small bits of wire or blobs of glue from attacthing the decorations. This all makes a very small percentage of the total product.
